I posted on my Instagram letting people ask me questions about the race! Here are the questions and answers!!

 

1. What’s the hardest part of the race for you right now?

-COMMUNITY 

it’s so hard living with 30 people and never getting a lick of alone time. But community is what we were made for! So I’m so happy that I get to be a part of this one!

 
  2. What’s the biggest difference between Africa and Ecuador?

-SPANISH

In Africa pretty much everyone spoke English! So getting around here is an adventure!

 
  3. Most culture shocking experience?

-in Africa we lived on a really nice base that used to be a bed and breakfast and we did ministry in squatercamps everyday, talking to people that lived in shacks and had almost nothing. That transition everyday between to polar opposites was really sad for me. 

 

Also spanish.

 

  4. Favorite person you’ve met on the race?

-met a woman in the squattercamps named Samantha on my very first day of ministry! She is accepted Jesus that day! AND I got to go back and see her on my last day of ministry two months later! Sat with her for hours and talked about life. I’ll see her in heaven some day <3

 

Also met a guy in Africa named carter, he was pretty cool (and may or may not have asked this question)

 

  5. What food do you miss the most (besides chicken nuggets) ?

-newks all the way. Tears come to my eyes if I think about it long enough. (It’s a sandwich place in my state for those of you who don’t know newks hahahah).

 

  6. What’s been your highlight and lowlight so far?

-highlight! the baby home in Africa! We got to baby sit the most precious babies I’ve ever seen. Low light! At some point the race starts to feel old! And it’s really hard to stay present and seek the lord fully when that happens! 

 

  7. What’s the lord been doing?

-that’s a loaded question BUT I am at this point where I’m hearing the lord more than I ever have before! That’s pretty neat 

 

  8. How’s everyone’s parasite deal?

-for everyone that didn’t know- about half my squad got parasites when we got to Ecuador hahahahahha. BUT happy to say that everyone is parasite free! for right now at least. 

 

  9. Nastiest thing you’ve eaten? 

-chicken feet (I actually didn’t end up eating all of them bc I started crying bc I was scared XD. My loyal friend MoMo ate them for me) 

-Also in Africa they make this stuff called  popchocoloca [pop•choc•uh•lock•uh](autocorrect doesn’t not love that word so HAHA) it sounds how it looks. 

It’s is like this white, hard, bouncy, mashed potato looking substance (that doesn’t taste like mashed potatoes)

-AKA pop 

usually served with sauce and or chicken with sauce

-AKA chocoloca

 

Anyways- it tastes like dirty and I “fasted” anytime that was for dinner 

 

  10. What has been your most favorite/eye opening experience? 

-evangelism in Africa! I dream about it still.
